Join Prosperity Outreach in Changing Lives

At Prosperity Employment Outreach, we believe that every individual has the potential to overcome barriers and achieve lasting economic stability. Our success stories are a testament to the transformative impact of our programs and the dedication of those we serve. From individuals who have secured stable employment after participating in our job mentoring and digital skills training, to women who have confidently entered the workforce through our Success Suits Her program, these stories highlight the resilience and determination that define our community. Each success is not just a milestone for the individual, but also a step forward in building a stronger, more empowered community. Explore our success stories to see how Prosperity Employment Outreach is making a difference, one life at a time.

Success after a Felony or Misdemeanor

One of our most inspiring cases involves a client with a felony on their record. Through our comprehensive services, including a thorough resume revision, personalized mentoring, and strategic discussions on how to address their past during job interviews, we were able to advocate for this client with local employers. As a result, they secured a General Manager position, earning over $70,000 annually, plus benefits and company incentives. This achievement is a powerful reminder that with the right support and opportunities, individuals can rebuild their lives and thrive professionally, regardless of their past.

This client is now one of our 2nd chance employers in West Texas!

Probation was Blocking Opportunities

A client who faced significant challenges due to a state probation resulting from a plea deal. Despite the circumstances of the plea being less severe than it appeared, and with no conviction on record, this individual's probation made finding employment incredibly difficult. When this individual completed probation, it would be expunged from their record.  However, many companies were hesitant to hire because of lack of information, leaving them stuck in a part-time job at $7.25 an hour.

At Prosperity Employment Outreach, we worked closely with this client to adjust how they presented their situation to potential employers, emphasizing their qualifications and the temporary nature of the probation, which would be expunged upon completion. Additionally, we advocated on their behalf to a second-chance employer willing to look beyond the record and see the person's potential.

Thanks to these efforts, the client was hired full-time and now earns 3x's their previous wage. This story exemplifies the power of second chances and the importance of support and advocacy in overcoming employment barriers.

It Wasn't Ageism

We recently had the opportunity to assist an older female client who felt she was facing age discrimination in her job search. Upon reviewing her situation, we discovered that her resume did not accurately reflect her extensive work history or the valuable skills she had acquired over the years. The job titles and skills listed were outdated and did not showcase her true capabilities.

After revamping her resume to highlight her experience and strengths, we provided mentorship on professional appearance, appropriate clothing, skill enhancement, and maintaining a positive and tenacious attitude. With her new resume and refreshed approach, she successfully secured a position with a staffing agency, where she is now gaining additional skills while working for an oilfield company in Odessa. This success story underscores the importance of proper representation and confidence in overcoming perceived barriers like age discrimination.

Confidence from Clothing

We recently had the privilege of helping a young mother who had worked at a tire company for the past 10 years and was seeking a rare opportunity to transition into a new career as a paralegal. Although she lacked the formal education, skills, and professional attire typically required for such a role, her determination to change her life was undeniable. The lawyer she was applying to work for saw her potential and was willing to invest in her education and training—on the condition that she could dress professionally and be eager to learn.

To support her journey, we provided her with several brand-new suits, jackets, pants, shirts, cardigans, and shoes, helping to build her self-confidence and believe in herself. This transformation not only improved her appearance but also gave her the confidence to step into a new career path, where she is now learning and growing in a professional environment. This story highlights how the right support and resources can empower someone to overcome barriers and achieve their goals..
